Class 4 has moved into Segment 2.5, a three-month season of specialization training where Cadets begin developing more focused skills within their chosen areas of rescue work.

Three Cadets have chosen the Medical track, which means they are now working through EMT-B training with New Holland Ambulance.

Cadets review lower airway anatomy as part of their EMT coursework.

They are currently in week five of the accelerated six-week course, where they have been studying patient assessment, anatomy, airway management, CPR, AED use, trauma care, medical emergencies, and other skills needed for prehospital care. Alongside the classroom portion, they have also been practicing these skills through hands-on scenarios. Recently they have been able to join the New Holland Ambulance team in real-life calls, giving them actual experience in the field as well.

After completing their EMT-B course, these Cadets are scheduled to deploy to Haiti, where they will continue building these skills in a remote medical clinic setting. Their time there will include work in an established clinic as well as a mobile medical clinic in the mountains, giving them the opportunity to serve in a resource-limited environment while continuing to grow in patient care, adaptability, and field decision-making. We are grateful for the opportunity to have them serve in this much-needed capacity in Haiti while also building their own skills.

The two Cadets in the Technical Rescue track have been moving through a different kind of training season. Their specialization includes raft guide training, drone operations, technical climbing, light rope systems, off-road driving, motorized boat operations, search and rescue scenarios, rescue swimmer training, and more.

Drone training setup

Their first phase included raft guide training in North Carolina, local climbing and rope work, and drone SAR training, including earning their FAA Part 107 certification, which will allow them to operate drones legally in future response settings.

The technical rescue Cadets are now in Idaho, where they are continuing work on rope systems and climbing while also training alongside a seasoned search and rescue team. This gives them the chance to build skills on real terrain and learn from responders with years of experience in active SAR environments.

Chazak Rescue

At the same time, Chazak Rescue currently has two teams abroad on exploratory and medical trips. Due to the security realities surrounding these trips, we are not sharing locations or specific details at this time, but we are grateful for the open doors and the work our teams are able to be part of. We hope to share more from their experience over the next few months as we are able.

Please continue praying for Class 4 as they train and travel, for the medical Cadets as they prepare for Haiti, for the technical rescue Cadets as they continue in Idaho and beyond, and for our teams abroad as they serve with wisdom, humility, and endurance.
